Strata Frontier LLC is a Virginia-based aerospace company founded in 2026. We develop balloon-deployed solar-electric aircraft that can be placed on station in the stratosphere where and when a mission needs them, without the launch-site and weather limits of ground-launched high-altitude platforms.
High-altitude platforms have demonstrated persistence measured in weeks. What they have not demonstrated is reliable access: ground launch depends on few suitable sites and narrow weather windows, so capability that exists has not become capability that can be fielded.
A high-altitude balloon carries a purpose-built aircraft through the troposphere and releases it at operating altitude. The aircraft and the deployment system are designed together as one architecture. Provisional patent application filed.
Founder Fabian Kluessendorf brings 18 years in stratospheric flight and unmanned aircraft systems, including 13 years on the Airbus Zephyr high-altitude platform program across engineering, flight operations, and business roles.
